God’s will is done on earth; not as men wish it, but as it it is done in heaven. If God acted as man wished, then God is not God of the Bible: Jehovah God, Elohim. He is God and there is no other – none! All of God’s attributes are infinite in nature, which include his love and justice. Each must be equally, and infinitely satisfied, there is no shadow of turning.
Still, out of whimsey, many people reduce God’s being and glorious attributes to meaninglessness, How do they do that? Men have no problem believing in a flawed, dismissible Bible… accepting Jesus as a prophet – one among a long line of seers. Men want a Deity whose love approves everything that they do, as long as what they do is right in their own eyes, and generally acceptable within the community. Indeed, whatever good or evil a man conceives, they want their God to approve of it, and there are those who – as my neighbor Homunculus said pointing to my Bible, “Is it not true that God is love? If so, God’s love covers all, right? Certainly the Bible isn’t flawed in that statement,” Homunculus asserted. “All men want a palatable God. Not just palatable, but one whose love is never cloying… too sweet… a love able to forgive the most heinous of man’s sins… well, then again, that depends on the heinousness of the sin and who is sinned against, doesn’t it? Could anyone forgive Hitler if what is said of history is true? Some people say that God saved Adam, and he brought the overthrow and death of humanity! Regardless, who’d push away a love so sweet? That man would be a fool!” With that, Homunculus took the rake he came to borrow, and ended his spiel.
Yes, there are such fools, I thought to myself. The fool is not the man who finds God’s love too sweet, but the one who finds it too holy.
