Hup and Cordia hadn’t had much chance to talk since the Bible study with the Collier’s and Middleton’s. While Hup was with Bill and Ron in the kitchen, Cordia met with Connie and Diane in the living room. They hadn’t planned it that way, but apparently the Heavenly Father had because Connie wanted to talk about Bill’s comment about the breasts. “Connie was embarrassed.” Cordia explained.
“Connie opened up in front of Diane?” Hup asked.
“They’re friends and we all heard what Bill said. According to Connie, a sexual inuendo to Bill is as a fart to an ass – just blow it off, will you? That’s what Bill told her.”
“Really – huh. I’m not surprised. Anything else?”
“No, that’s when Diane lost her peripheral vision, and she said that she had to get home and in bed before the headache hit.” Cordia watched as Hup leaned his head back and looked up into the ceiling. “What are you thinking?”
“Oh, I don’t know if what we’re doing is the right thing… the Collier’s and Middleton’s struck me as mature Christians. Then? If you can get them away from mother where they graze appearing as a flock of unblemished white woolen coats put on for the occasion… well, get them away, and you find Jacob’s flock.
“What are you saying Hup?”
“What I’m saying is, if Bill had handled verse 5 a little more maturely, then I wouldn’t fear so much going forward.”
“Why are you afraid?”
“Really? Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee? Is that what we want heard right now? Can I teach that to someone so immature? I don’t think teaching the Song of Solomon has anything to do necessarily with our sexual maturity as it does our spiritual. And that verse? Jesus telling us we are fair? There is no spot in you?”
“It’s true Hup.” Cordia whispered.
“Of course, it’s true, but how can someone truly value Christ’s love when they espouse him but turn around and make light of everything pure, and good… holy?”
“Well?” Cordia brushed his hair away from his eyes. “I’ve read ahead a bit, and weren’t we asked to go with him from Lebanon?”
“From the cross? Yes.” Hup considered that chariot – made from the wood of Lebanon.
“And what of that lions den whose mouths were shut, and the leopards he faced to remove their spots?”
“You truly amaze me hon. Wow!”
“So where do we go from here?”
“Oh, let’s ride that chariot to the top of Amana… Shenir, and Hermon… look from there beyond the lion’s dens… mountains of the leopards. God has his own innuendo’s too doesn’t he? Nothing sexual, all spiritual.”
