SIX SECOND DELAY – SONG, November 19, 2025

“Who would’ve known this room was here? Ron asked, as he leaned forward to talk quietly to Bill. Hup stood at the front of the table up to take a picture of the gathering.

“I knew the restaurant was here, and heard good things about it, but… well, you saw the entrance… nothing all that fancy,” Bill answered.

“There. Good. I have my picture,” Hup announced and cleared his throat. “Yes, as I said earlier I hit a wall in my preparations for this study. You see, to understand the Song of Solomon, the words strike at the heart of a far grander meaning than most of us will ever understand on earth. It’s only by God’s invitation – and that through grace – we are drawn to the place – that Walter thought provided a visual aid to a now-present Eden that our heavenly Father extended to each of us through His Holy Spirit.”

“So you’re saying that not everyone knows this place?” Connie looked around in bewilderment. “Come on – why are you looking at me like that?”

Bill threw up his hands. “Not looking, Connie.”

“Why is that Hup?” Ron asked. “Are you saying most of us in mother’s church is excluded?”

“No, not at all – not if they’re truly in Christ, and among the elect of God. You may – they may – very well be among the elect, and find their promised room… mansion – far superior to this room – in heaven… but… ” Hup allowed that ever-excepting ‘but’ to spin off as a lure. Their response will tell Hup more about this particular cast.

“But?” Bill spoke up.

“Yeah,” Connie chimed in, as did Ron and Diane with a shake of their heads. They wanted in.

Hup looked at Cordia and smiled. It was now a matter of whether that would be brought in or not as a matter of God’s prerogative.  “Well, good – I hope you don’t mind but Walter will have our meal brought in around 7:30. Between now and then? Well, we all know there’s an invitation – Revelation, Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any man hears my voice and lets me in, I will come in and sup with him.”

“Yeah, Revelation 3:16, but we’re studying the Song of Solomon,” Bill asserted.

“Yes, and in Chapter Four, we have verse 7 through 9: “Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.Come with me from Lebanon, my spouse, with me from Lebanon: look from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir and Hermon, from the lions’ dens, from the mountains of the leopards.'”

“So what are saying?”

“We invited him in – right? That’s Revelation,” Connie answered without a thought.

“And?” Hup asked, wanting her to continue.

“Well, we opened up to Christ, he came in and supped with us. Because of that we have no spot. Christ’s blood covered us… “

“Yeah, that’s right – isn’t it?” Diane said, wanting to support her friend’s boldness, She looked at her husband, who remained silent.

“Making us pure white,” Cordia assured them.

“Okay, so now what?” Bill asked.

“He wants us to come away, that’s what… not stay where we were when he first came in,” Connie said and looked to Hup for corroboration.

Hup looked at Connie and smiled. He didn’t have to say anything. She got it. At the same time, he looked at the men, and shook his head. Why did men always seem to be on a six second delay? Was that a part of the Genesis curse? Was that a part of the mental tilling that came with the hard pack?
