Good Friday

Today we celebrate what is called ‘Good Friday.’ This is the day that Jesus faced His accusers, the betrayal of His disciples, and then looked out over the hills of Jerusalem from a bloody cross. But why call it good? I have my reason.

Do you remember from Genesis what God called His creation? God called it good; but then Adam sinned, which precipitated the need for a second Adam. As the Apostle …Paul wrote in Romans 5:19 “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” This was accomplished through Jesus’ death on the cross. Our sin was imputed to Him (yes, we were there), as was His righteousness imputed to us! As a result, for those who believe, we became new. “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Cor. 5:17)

And given what Jesus did was as much God’s creative plan, as He accomplished in Genesis, it was also good.

May the Lord minister to each of us this day in accordance with our needs.
