Is It Rare? November 6, 2025

“What are you thinking?” Hup asked himself as he took his Cavapoo, named Gracie, to the kennel. He looked at her. “I’m thinking about the Song of Solomon and Solyma. Solyma? Yes, that’s feminine for Solomon. Did you know the Song of Solomon has a most provocative beginning?

“Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth.” Hup raised his eyebrows – patted Gracie’s head.

“Provocative indeed. No wonder the rabbis locked the Song of Solomon up in a locked closet until their boys grew beards – not just stubble either – long beards. Still – there’s much more to the Song than many let on. Doctrinally, its a honey dripped – never cloying – demonstration of God’s prophetic love for his elect and how the bride of Christ can grow in intimacy.”

“Who are the elect? Me. Those whom God sends his Son to kiss, and do not refuse their own mouths and lips. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry!

You know, Gracie, I yearn for Christ’s intimacy. I know you know that feeling. I know you won’t miss me today. You’ll be at the kennel playing with your friends, but you do miss me when I’m out and you’re home alone. Of course,  I know what I feel has nothing to do with my Lord’s presence, but I’m feeling pretty far away from him right now.

“How did I get this way?”

What’s frustrating is I can’t do anything about it. Well, I can but I can’t – not until my Lord leads me… draws me… reveals what’s standing in my way of returning to my King’s bedchamber. When he does draw, I’ll run, and when I run, I know others will join me. How do I know? There’s an unmistakable joy to a Christian’s life, Gracie. A joy others want for themselves, but it’s so rarely seen today.”
