Millpond Ink Musing, 2015 – Of Men and Forgiveness

I cannot imagine how any man can truly forgive others if they cannot first see their own sin and cry for forgiveness.

It is an outwardly noble act, and for a man’s own glory, to say they have forgiven another, but they will do so only if the value of showing mercy provides them a greater return then exacting payment. And certainly a king would not become a pauper to do so. Thus, it is no demonstration of mercy and nobility for a king to show mercy to the poor! What do they have for a king to exact? What threat do the poor present? None. But for a competitor or arch rival? It is not about forgiveness but a show of justice and force.

Consider now God and His demonstration and show. How much greater is God’s grace and mercy shown to the poor and contrite of heart by shedding of His deity; His very blood as a man? And of His rivals? Those who presume themselves to be as gods and refuse to humble themselves? Likewise God will come to judge; and His justice shall be meted out but in His long suffering He will wait until the cup of each man is full…either of His grace or their iniquity. Then, He will call the saint or sinner home.
