Millpond Ink Musing, 2015 – Of Sin, Judgment and the Books

All sin is an affront to God, our Creator, and all men have fallen short of His glory. While sin in its human setting has its perpetrators and victims, God’s justice is not to balance the human scales; e.g., vindicate those so victimized by others. We could live our lives as a monk on a distant hill; have no human contact, and still we are sinners.

Again, I say; not that I first said it, but I’m merely repeating the words of the apostle, “For all have sinned and have fallen short of God’s glory.” (Romans 3:23) Thus, from the time of Adam’s fall, all have enjoyed their sin in equal standing before God: we have no standing. We are also told by the apostle that no one sought God. We were as dead men; all equally condemned.

However, God, in accordance with the Council of his own will, sovereignly set into motion his plan to restore His glory. In doing so, he showered mercy on those whom He calls upon today (while it is called today), while patiently waiting until tomorrow (when today in this life is no longer) to mete out justice on a day of judgment.

As a recipient of God’s mercy through His Son’s righteousness and obedience unto death, I have found that it’s with humility I should warn all of judgment as a coming event and what marks those who stand in judgment. However, as to the names of those who travel there, that is not for either me or you. It is God Who holds the ultimate book and list. What He intended for us to read was the Book that He gave us: the Bible. Let us read that, today.
