Jehovah God set such a high bar upon our purity and goodness that no man can achieve such loftiness. Indeed, Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, necessarily had to take on our flesh in order to redeem us. The bar that was originally met by Adam was much higher than his descendants could ever pay to achieve God’s fellowship after Adam’s fall. For some, that will be their ‘bad news’ because they insist upon pointing to their self-righteousness, which is dictated by the terms of their self-reasoned, self-accomplished rules of morality. As for the Good News? Those who find themselves utter dirtbags, rejoice! Why? Because they found in Christ a righteousness imputed to them… a truly alien, heavenly righteousness. For those whom God’s grace raised from the dead out of their dunghill, they now bear the floral scent of the Rose of Sharon and Lily of the valley. Good News indeed.
