NIGHT HUNT – SONG, November 12, 2025

“There seems a perpetual night on earth… what light is seen must shine from the inside out, as we stroll as lamps, the light itself illumining of God’s Word – Son of God, Son of Man – once, and if ever lit, kept lit by the oil within,” Hup mused as he peered out the window into the surrounding community.

“Another restless night? We’ve had our share.” Cordia joined him at the window.

“I’m sorry if I woke you hon.”

“No, don’t be. I couldn’t sleep either. You just started your study on the 3rd chapter.”

“Yes, it resonates. As my heart beats – slowly but heavily. We’ve both been out there on the community. How long have we lived here? It’s not like we’re silent witnesses to the darkness… “

“Silent partners in God’s great plan?” Cordia said and smiled. “Still, I don’t see… feel things as you do, Hup.

“I know. I’ve never really connected with people as you do.”

“That’s not true of what I’ve seen in your relationship with Jesus, Hup.”

“Our heavenly Father made that connection. In a most mysterious way, his endowment is in me as a self-love and has been from all eternity.

“How is that Hup?”

“Because he loved me first, and always. Eternal bright, eternal day – love’s eternal flame.” Hup paused momentarily as he watch a car drive down the hill. “What saddens me is that we’ve gone out and searched the streets… the lanes… to find his presence in others, but where is he strolling to be seen… for us to commune? It’s all so perfunctory – mother’s church, without Father’s presence. She had not tended well… the cupboards are bare. It use to be I’d have a sense of his presence in others… such as the baby John leapt in his mother’s womb when Mary entered… what is he now? Stillborn?”

“That’s a dreadful thought Hup.”

“Yes it is, but that didn’t stop Deacon Jones and Wilder from stopping me… the so-called watchmen… shouldn’t they have known where Jesus is? They found me hon.”

“But they weren’t looking for the one you love.”

“No, they were looking for someone… something to bring into line. Oh, God, please have mercy on us and our community.”

“He does, Hup. We’re his expression of it.”

“Yeah – I need to remember that.”
