Of Our Comfort and Troubles

Oh, Christian! If you are a Bible reader, and I only say this to Bible readers: Take all of your comforts from the love language of His Book, and source the nature of any of your troubles there also.  In sum, focus on the promises of God’s Word for comfort, and if troubled, seek the source of your trouble there also. In the majority of instances, the source of our discomfort and trouble will be found and can be corrected by searching out the Bible. However, there are times when we fight against ourselves… having not lost God’s comfort or incurring his chastening because we sinned. Any comfort that you seek to find or trouble that regales you outside of God’s Word is a figment – a fruit of our unruly inclinations  – our feelings, doubts and fears. Such as the young man who – because of his sensitive conscience – could not eat meat served to idols.
