The Attic – SONG, November 11, 2025

Hup awoke fully refreshed. He slept in an upper space, away from his wife. They loved each other dearly but truth be told, Hup’s sleeping habits made it difficult for her to sleep in, rather than waking at the… what did she call? The butt-crack of dawn? No, Hup awoke at odd hours, early in the morning – 4 AM to 6. That was his prime time for meditation and writing.

“I probably wouldn’t wake up so early if I didn’t go to sleep in wonderment of what God would illumine the next morning.” That’s what Hup explained to those who’s ask when they learned their sleeping arrangements. It wasn’t odd to either Hup or his wife that he was aloft, and she below – such was their union. Thus, he slept in the attic with its beams of cedar and rafters of fir. His wife preferred sleeping below – especially in the winter season, with nearness of hearth. Hup? He’d chuckle and said that he preferred the refreshment of its chill and nearness of God. As for Gracie their beloved Cavapoo? She made the choice, drawn by whoever said at bedtime, ‘Come,’ and there’d she sleep until her sigh brought in the dawn.

Song of Solomon, Chapter Two. Hup went to bed that night in wonderment how to pursue its study and application. It’s been an amazing time as Hup came to realize the promise of God that the thoughts that he lay down at night carrying would be brought to light in the morning; that is, if he did not let the sun set on his anger or whatever unconfessed sin that his heart deceitfully permitted to linger, and later in soul restlessness awaken. However, the night before, he found himself back in the King’s bedchamber, which ended his Chapter One adventure. Now, his Spirit urged him onward…
