I enjoy my early morning hours, waking to meditate and to talk to my heavenly Father, and the Lord Jesus. This morning, I thought about my soul; as well as the souls of others – my family, friends, neighbors, and the world. We don’t spend a lot of time considering our souls. In America, our time is mostly spent on enhancing our physical appearance… feeding our intellect… stabilizing our emotional well being… and yes, satisfying our lusts, which can harm – even destroy our bodies. Now, assuming that you believe you were endowed with a soul, and that your soul is eternal, you’d probably agree the amount of time we attend to our bodies is disproportionately much greater than the time we spend attending to the health of our souls… through the study of God’s Word, prayer and meditation, and fellowship with believers. Of course, I say this knowing that whatever and wherever our interests lay and time is spent, is a clear indication of the work that God is doing and will bring to completion in our lives. So, I’m not saying you should go out now and immediately begin to do those things that will address the healthiness of your soul. You can’t – not unless the Lord works in you His will to do so… it starts with a new life.
So. Why am I writing this? Oh, just that you’d consider… consider why your soul doesn’t matter to you. If it did? You’d call out to the Great Physician, and hence – by grace, through faith, you’d believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and then, you shall be healed and you’d spend quality time with he that lives in your heart and soul.
