I’m not going to apologize for growing old. Yes, I’m a BOOMER. I could no more help growing old, than all of you younger pups out there can in the world, whatever generation you were born in: GEN X, MILLENNIALS… GEN Z… oh, and we have our current GEN ALPHA dogs. Seriously, your generation will pass as the sun in the morning, into mid-day, and as mine, finally into dust… sorry, I meant dusk. Ask me – I’ll gladly tell you. Make it quick, though, my sun is settling. Of course, you probably won’t ask… I think I know why… you either don’t believe I have anything to say that could possibly matter, or you don’t like the optics… talking to me, reminded of that settling sun… wondering whether you’ll see that day. I wish I could tell you. However, if you don’t mind, let me just say that I’m an old Christian man, growing each day to love my Lord Jesus more and more even now. The advantage I have? With all my years behind me, I can look back and see what God promised is true: Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
You see? You young pups don’t have the length of life I do, and others have my age. I’m able to look back and see how wonderfully God worked all things together for good. You guys are still working your way through the first; second acts of God’s great three act play, ‘Did They, or Didn’t They?’ Of course, I’m referring to whether a person repented of their sins – believed and trusted in Jesus. But, those of us who are well into God’s third act, this is where the denouement is revealed… how all wraps up… everything in hindsight is explained… how God worked everything to my good, despite my many struggles and seeming failures. Yep, that’s what this old dog wants to tell all the younger pups. Okay. I said it.
