It’s The Heart of the Matter

One of the most frequent questions I hear asked is, “Why are there so many different denominations?” The simple answer is that there are so many different people and it seems that some folks who speak of the blood of Christ tend to coagulate in like blood types. I’m an ‘A negative’ by the way; which might explain why I tend to keep to myself along the stream (and yes, I can get a little clingy at times when I get stuck on certain ‘capillary issues.’) What causes the periodic coagulation? It is my pride of knowledge and doctrine… high LDL (Lethal Dose of Loftiness) which is really bad cholesterol. Of course, I’m not alone. We have a number of clogged arteries within the body of Christ. Nevertheless, our Lord’s intent was always to keep His love flowing and lively through us, and despite our many mini-strokes, what He started He will bring to completion. We can be sure of that. Then again, there is that matter of the cancerous platelets that are floating around (you know, the tares… vain professors… false-Christ’s). Still, the Father and Son know their own, and Jesus loves his bride. As for true believers? We should know our own, but sadly that’s another matter. Just let me tell you that it’s not a matter of blood type. Jesus was a universal donor for all those His Father sent to Him. In that regard, whether your type is A, B, O, or AB (positive or negative – of course, I prefer to be positive) still… we are one body in Christ, maybe we should stop attacking each other on the ‘capillary issues’ and realize it is Christ’s heart that beats within us and sends us on our way in our great commission, and accordingly we return to Him in communion, where we meditate upon what transpired during the journey. So, yes, indeed, we would all fair a little better if we remembered that it is His precious and life-filled blood that courses through our veins, and His Spirit, like oxygen, needs to be refreshed daily as we are sent out. Indeed, given all of the blood thinners we’ve experienced, I am amazed that the body of Christ continues to this day… now, if only we could get a little more pumped!
