Of The Trinities – October 23, 2022

Folks often mock the idea of a triune God. Father, Son and the Holy Spirit one being? Phooey.

Okay, I get it. I’ve heard it. It’s a wonderful mystery! I can’t explain it, but I believe it. You want another trinity? How about the Trinity of Evil? Our flesh (the evil in us), the world (the evil around us, in the streets, always attempting to seduce us or destroy our lives) and finally, Satan (yes, the devil – whether or not you believe there is one. He is like a lion on the prowl, seeking to destroy.)

Now, what I look for in a true trinity? The commonality of the attributes we expect to be observed… Father, Son and Holy Ghost: love, peace and mercy – one substance, three beings. As for the flesh, the world and Satan? sin and evil – again, one substance.
