The Great Birthday – Christmas
Charles Haddon Spurgeon preached The Great Birthday December 25, 1876 at the Metropolitan Tabernacle. Until that Christmas, Pastor Spurgeon and his congregation did not observe the birth of Christ on any specific day. However, with the growing trend of Protestant Churches to observe the 25th of December as Christmas, he acquiesced and did so admonishing his congregation to remember who was born that day. Also, if there were any in his congregation who could not do so with good conscience, they should stay true to their convictions and celebrate the birth of Jesus throughout the year.
